This past week of the NHL season saw mixed results from the Anaheim Ducks. They played four games going 2-1-1.
Thumbs Up Against Nashville
Last season in the playoffs, the Ducks were eliminated by the Predators in seven games. This past week was the first meeting since then and the Ducks unloaded on them. In der ersten Periode, the Ducks jumped out to a 1-0 lead on a goal by Nick Ritchie. It was the second period, jedoch, where Anaheim took over scoring five consecutive goals to build a 6-0 nach der 40 Minuten Spielzeit. Jakob Silfverberg scored the first two goals of the period, which were his first goals of the season. Corey Perry, Andrew Cogliano, und Ryan Kesler followed up each with a goal of their own. The Ducks won the face-off battle winning 55% of the draws. The power play was on fire with Anaheim going three for four. It was a near perfect night for Anaheim, except for Nashville scoring in the third period ruining John Gibson‘s shutout bid.
Thumbs Down Against Columbus
After Anaheim’s best performance of the season, they turned in their worst outing in their next game against Columbus. The Blue Jackets scored four goals in a span of just under four minutes in the first period building a 4-0. The Ducks played better after the first period, but couldn’t recover from the large hole they dug themselves in the opening period. It was a disappointing effort by Anaheim, especially after having played their best game two nights before against Nashville.
Thumbs Up To Re-signing Lindholm
The summer came and went, aber doch Hampus Lindholm was still not re-signed by Anaheim. Schließlich, this past week a deal was reached. Lindholm signed a six-year deal worth $31.5 million with Anaheim. The annual average cost is $5.25 Million. He will make $3 million this season, $6 Millionen 2017-18, $6.75 Millionen 2018-19, $5.25 Millionen 2019-20, $3.75 Millionen 2020-21 und $6.75 million in 2021-22.
Hauptgeschäftsführer Bob Murray, who had been taking heat for not getting a deal done, was able to get Lindholm re-signed because of injuries to Nate Thompson und Simon Despres. Both players were placed on long-term injury reserve(LTIR), which opened up about $5.3 million in needed cap space. Lindholm needs to get his work visa before he can play for Anaheim. He should hopefully be back in a week or two at the most. Eventually, Thompson and Despres should come off the LTIR, which will necessitate another move. Zur Zeit, Murray has bought himself and the Ducks time before having to trade anyone.
